Meet Our Swimming Teachers

Melissa

Melissa is a partner in the Swim School and is the driving force behind its success. Melissa’s meticulous attention to detail, drive, determination and focus has quickly turned ‘Elite School of Swimming’ into the islands top Swim School.

Melissa has a real passion for swimming and when she was younger swam competitively representing the island in the World Youth Island Games. Since qualifying as a swimming teacher and Baby/Preschool teacher she has gone on to qualify as a Swimming Tutor Trainer and Assessor.

Melissa has gained a wealth of experience by working at a number of pools on the island and along the South Coast of England. Melissa’s number one priority is to deliver outstanding Customer Service. In 2017 this was recognised when she was awarded the Venus Women in Business Award for Customer Service across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight in a field of over 1,500 entries.

Paul

Paul is the Company Director along with Melissa. Paul primarily works on the desk during the swimming lessons. He has 35 years experience in administration and working with the general public. Paul is the face of the Swim School as he deals with parents/carers queries on poolside during lessons. Paul has a welcoming and friendly nature and is always happy to chat to everyone.

Emma

Emma is a fully qualified swimming teacher. She has worked in primary schools around the Island for many years and has worked with children with disabilities. She joined our team as a pool helper in swimming lessons and then soon became a fully qualified swimming teacher in the summer of 2014. In July 2015 Emma also qualified as a baby and preschool swimming teacher.

Emma is now one of the swim schools main teachers and is highly motivated and passionate about educating children in water safety and enabling them to feel confident in the water so that they can develop the skills required to be an excellent swimmer. Her energetic teaching and caring nature has meant that she is very popular with the swimmers in her classes.

Tracey

Tracey is a fully qualified swimming teacher and has worked with children in Primary schools on the island since 1998. Tracey’s passion is working with children and helping them progress. Tracey has a calm and supportive nature that makes her a popular teacher with the younger children. Children who are a little nervous about their swimming lessons are made to feel at ease quickly by Tracey. Tracey has worked at Elite School of Swimming since the company started.

Abbie

Abbie joined the team in 2016 as a pool assistant and it was immediately evident that she had the right personality and technical ability to become a valuable member of the team. Prior to joining the team she was a competitive swimmer and represented the Isle of Wight all over the South of England. Abbie’s exceptional technical ability and her friendly and cheerful personality meant she had all the required  skills needed to become a teacher. In 2017 Abbie passed her exam and is now a fully qualified teacher.

Abbie always displays great empathy with the children she teaches and without exception all her pupils love her lessons.

Mike

Mike qualified as a Swimming Teacher in 2017 and regularly covers Paul on the desk. Mike prides himself on making sure his teaching is technically correct and that the children in his class are treated individually so that they get the most out of each lesson. Mike is a very sociable and friendly individual who is liked and respected by parents and the children in his classes.
